Help Michelangelo get his surgery

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read our story. I'm Laura, Gianluca is my brother. Five years ago I started caring for a feline colony in my town, providing food mostly and some essential medications (antibiotics, painkillers and such). With time I've grown fond of two cute orange babies and I decided to adopt them: Michelangelo and Leonardo.

I'm not a rich person, never been, and I've never been able to spoil my cats as much as I would, but until today I've been able to offer them a decent and happy life.

What happened?

Michelangelo is five years old. He has always been a very active cat; very “orange” to quote a fairly popular meme you probably know. In the last few days I have noticed a marked decline in his energy levels: little desire to play, little appetite, and considerable difficulty jumping. I thought something was broken in all honesty, given the difficulty in using his hind legs.

I took him to the vet, and the doctor immediately noticed his blood pressure was too high along with a severe potassium deficiency. After another series of blood tests and a CT scan, the diagnosis came: primary hyperaldosteronism due to a tumor in an adrenal gland. My world collapsed.

What now?

The treatment of choice is surgery (adrenalectomy) to completely remove the affected gland and the tumor with it. Right now the mass is contained and not spreading. The doctor said there are good chances for a complete recover: many cats with this tumor can have an almost normal life, if no metastasis are detected.

Right now, the total cost for the therapy is over 1000€. I can't even imagine where I could find that money. I work as a waitress ten hours a day and my salary is barely enough to cover my rent, monthly bills and food for me and the cats.

At the moment, Michelangelo is taking a potassium supplement and an antihypertensive medication. That's all I can afford right now.

This sudden expense is something I can't overcome by myself, that's why I'm asking for your help. If you or someone you know have the possibility to spare something, that would mean the world for me.
