Michael Earl Martin, 62, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Otis Martin and Kay Hulla. His stepfather, Don "Pops" Hulla , also played a significant role in his life.
In 1973, Mike and his family moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, which became his lifelong home. He attended the School of Osage and graduated from Camdenton High School. Mike loved the lake and spent as much time as he could on or near the water, with Ha Ha Tonka State Park always holding a special place in his heart.
Mike enjoyed cooking and “fed the lake” while working at numerous restaurants for over 40 years. He spent many years working at Chevy’s and Alley Cats and, most recently, at the Porto Cima Clubhouse, where he enjoyed the opportunity to create new dishes. His latest creation was a unique twist on Bananas Foster French toast! He was also worked as a DJ at a local radio station and ran a DJ business for many years, sharing his love of music with others.
To those who knew him—fondly called “Mikey” by many—his life was unfiltered and never dull. He was generous and wholehearted, with an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went. Kind, genuine, and loyal, he showed his care through thoughtful gifts and had a passion for collecting unique items, including knives, firearms, and turquoise jewelry.
In 2005, Mike met Michelle, and they became devoted life partners. He was always so proud of her and they became devoted life partners. He was always so proud of her and enjoyed sharing her talents and accomplishments with others. He was also deeply grateful for the care and support she gave him. He valued his close relationship with his sister Suzy and took pride in staying up-to-date and involved, when he could, in his nephews Camron and Jordan’s lives.
Mike is survived by his life partner, Michelle Miller, mother-in-law Nancy Miller; his sisters, Suzy Haas (Troy) and Renee Martin; his best friend of nearly 50 years, Tim Jacobsen; his nephews, Camron and Jordan Haas; his cousin, Shannon Olsson; and many other dear friends and pets. He was preceded in death by his parents, “father-in-law” Ken Miller, and his brother, David Martin.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 3rd, at 10 AM at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton, MO. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM.
