Help Michelle Get Her Eyesight Back!

Donation protected
Hi all! For those who remember, my mom had an awful experience back in October where she sat in an ER for over 14 hours with a detached retina before anybody ever looked at her eye. She was sent home with an outpatient ophthalmology appointment, which led to another appointment in Burlington, and then an emergency surgery in Peabody that afternoon. During this first surgery, they determined her macula was also more than halfway detached and that she would likely have permanent vision loss from this. Had this medical emergency been handled properly in the ER, the macula probably wouldn’t have been damaged as well and the significant vision loss she has experienced could have been avoided.

Three weeks to the day of her first surgery, her retina detached again and she had a second surgery. Add to that the cataract that was already developing in both her eyes, she was unable to drive for about 2 months and now can only drive during the day.

Mom has surgery scheduled the first week of April for one eye and the first week of May for the other to correct the cataract and improve her vision. Unfortunately, insurance will not pay for the type of lense implants she will need to get her vision to a safe place for her to drive at night. Please consider donating or sharing to spread the word! Thank you!
