Help the HISD Community Save Houston ISD

My name is Michelle Williams. I am the president of the Houston Education Association, a local union in Houston ISD. I'm also a teacher in the Houston Independent School District who is currently battling wrongful termination due to my continuous criticism of the superintendent.

As an educator for twenty-four years, with over half spent in HISD, I started my teaching journey in August 2000. The deliberate deterioration of HISD is unprecedented in my experience. Under Floyd Mike Miles and the Board of Managers, HISD's budget deficit has skyrocketed to $450 million , resulting in extensive layoffs. Despite 100+ speakers pleading for change at recent board meetings, their voices have fallen on deaf ears.

Houston ISD is on the brink of collapse under the current superintendent, so the community is rallying against the current superintendent's damaging policies, taking our fight to Austin where it all began. It's time for action before it's too late!
