Help Michelle Urai Beat Breast Cancer

My name is Katie Braton, and I have been neighbors and friends with Michelle Urai for more than 10 years. This site is to raise funds to help Michelle’s fight with breast cancer. At the tender age of 35, Michelle felt lumps in her breast and underarm. She made an appointment, but between her nursing background and intuition, Michelle already had a feeling it was cancer. After multiple appointments, it was confirmed: invasive ductal carcinoma stage 3C. Michelle had many appointments in a short couple weeks after this, including consultations, scans, financial and insurance meetings. #UraiStrong

Michelle Urai is a down-to-earth, caring, honest, and realistic person with a range of passions. At her home in Otsego, MN, she loves landscaping and caring for her yard, sitting by the fire with her dog, Jake, or cuddling with him and the two cats on the couch with a movie or a book. Exploring nature and hiking with Shannon, other friends/co-workers, or alone, Michelle loves to go to different state parks or new trails. She is always looking to take pretty scenery photos, whether on the trail or at a vineyard. Michelle and I (plus many other of our gal pals) have visited too many wineries/vineyards to count. The varying atmospheres and stories behind the wineries draw us in, and trying ALL the wines always proves to be a good time! Michelle loves to try new things and go different places as well as enjoy the comforts of the home she has created.

Michelle knows she will be spending much less time outdoors exploring and a lot more time at home through the coming months. As soon as she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Michelle’s thoughts went financial:

• I don’t have much PTO built up; what happens when that’s gone?

• Will I still be able to pay my mortgage and monthly bills?

• How much will the medical bills cost?

• Do I have beneficiaries set up for everything?

This is why I’ve set up this site: Michelle Urai is a very smart, competent, independent woman who makes careful decisions, especially when it comes to money, but she does not feel prepared for this financial journey.
