Help Mickey live with ALS

Hello, my name is Tamara, and I am fundraising for my wonderful husband Mickey, my best friend, my soulmate, amazing dad, and the best person I've ever met. Because he is all of that. For us, he is everything, our whole world!

We came to the USA 5 years ago to achieve our American dream. It was hard when we arrived but at the beginning of this year, we were so close to saying that we made it. We had great jobs, a lot of new friends, a lot of fun and adventures, and a bright future ahead. Unfortunately, this May, Mickey (49) started feeling the first symptoms in his right hand, shortness of breath, tremors, fatigue, muscle loss, walking issues... Just within a few months, he lost 40 pounds, and at this moment he can barely walk. After a lot of testing and doctors’ appointments, he got the worst possible diagnosis – a very progressive ALS. The fatal neurodegenerative disease which, over time, paralyzes the entire body and, ultimately, leads to death.

No cure. No cure. No cure...We were devastated... All our dreams fell apart in just a few days. It's so painful and heartbreaking. There are no words to describe our suffering. Every morning, every evening, and every moment since we’ve lived with this horrible and often unbelievable fact is like a nightmare. Sometimes we even pretend that everything is just a bad dream, just to enjoy a few minutes of different, normal, and happy reality. We’ve decided that we must be strong, that we want to fight to provide him with every possible support, and different kinds of therapies to keep him mobile and functional for as long as possible...

We have to change our life completely. Due to the progression of the illness, Mickey stopped working in August already. At the moment, I work full time and it's very hard for me to manage work, the household and to give Mickey and our family full support. Another issue is that we are forced to move ASAP because right now we are on the second floor, with no elevator and stairs looking like a mountain to him. We will need to cover the medical costs, caregivers, medical equipment. We would love to try some alternative promising treatments since official medicine doesn't have much to offer. We’ve heard that many ALS patients after those treatments and therapies live with minimal help and are able to slow down the progression of this monstrous disease.

We would like to try everything and give our 100% to our beloved Mickey. But we can't do it alone. We need a lot of help, support, and good energy. I know that in this world there are a million good souls, angels willing to help and fight for humanity.
