Help Mike Care for Teddy After a Heartbreaking Loss

This GoFundMe is being put together on behalf of one of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Mike is a regular at my work, a small coffee shop in Ypsilanti. Through the last couple of years that I've had the chance to interact with him, I can confidently say he has been one of the brightest part of each baristas shift. Mike, regardless of what is going on in the world, will check in on how everyone is doing and offer his own smiles and stories to accompany them. Whether he is sharing about his best friend Louise, his biking adventures or stargazing with friends, there is always something uplifting Mike has to offer.

This past Tuesday, while I was hurrying out the door at work, I brushed by Mike with a smile and could immediately feel he was carrying a weight on his shoulders. Through a lengthy conversation, he let me in on devastating events that had occurred only hours before he came in. He had lost a good friend. In addition to this, he had taken on the responsibility of caring for his pal's dog, Teddy. Mike explained how important Teddy was and to put in perspective, told me of the birthday cake his owner had purchased for him that was sitting in the fridge. Teddy was the center of his owner's world.

While Mike is processing the loss of a dear friend, he has taken on the unexpected financial responsibility of having Teddy. He did this without a single thought, which wouldn't shock anyone who knows his heart. I'm making this GoFundMe with Mike's permission to hopefully gather some funds that will alleviate any potential vet bills, dog food, etc that will inevitably be coming his way until Teddy is placed in his forever home. Mike wants to make sure that the home Teddy makes his way to understands how special he is, and with that, it could take some time.
