Help Mike Davis (Abebe Hailu) come home to the US
Donation protected
Mike Davis started life as Abebe Hailu in Ethiopia, before he was adopted by a U.S. Army officer in 1976. He became Mike Davis, and traveled with his dad to the U.S., living on Army bases, and eventually ending up in Georgia. There, as an adult, he established several successful small businesses, got married, and began raising a family.
In the mid-1990's, he learned that, through no fault of his, he was not a U.S. citizen. He had been legally and fully adopted with the approval of both Ethiopia and the United States, but did not have citizenship. He got in legal trouble, and served his time. Because he could not prove that he was a U.S. citizen, he was deported to Ethiopia in 2005, where he knew no one, didn't speak the language, and had only himself to rely on.
Mike is now 60 years old, and continues to work toward legal resolution of his case so that he can return home to his friends and family in the United States.
We are raising money for his legal expenses. We are also raising money for his medical expenses. Mike has, like any older person, various medical and dental issues. He is not currently eligible for Medicare or Social Security, despite having been a non-stop hard worker in America for decades. All the money donated here will go to Mike for his legal and medical expenses.
Please help us bring Mike Davis back home to the USA. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.
I (Maureen McCauley) am a friend of Mike's. Along with many others, I want him to get the best legal representation so that he can return to the US; I also want him to get good medical care as an older person. Many thanks!
