Help Mike Glavin get back home comfortably.

Hello, my name is Matthew Glavin and I am fundraising to assist my father, Michael Glavin. He suffered a major stroke about 5 months ago. He has lost the majority of his mobility on the right side of his body. Even with all the extensive rehab he has been receiving he will most likely be confined to a wheelchair for the foreseeable future. This stroke has put major financial burden upon my parents.

I am trying to assist my wonderful parents Michael and Peri Glavin in outfitting their home to accommodate an electric wheelchair. That will involve ramps, making the bathroom more accommodating, widening doorways, assisting with the very costly at home nursing and therapy costs, and possibly a vehicle that is wheelchair accessible. He will be coming home in the next 2-3 weeks so getting these upgrades will be necessary soon. If anyone is willing to assist in some of these upgrades we will gladly take the help.

Mike has always been the toughest, smartest and most caring man that I know. He has built some of the most amazing buildings that dot the Boston Skyline in his 30+ year career as a Union Ironworker. He has caught so many tuna in his lifetime that most people think they are just fish stories. He has instilled in myself and my life a true sense of hardwork, dedication to family and being charitable to others.

Being in the comfort of his own home will bring him great joy. He will get to enjoy those nice nights with my mother and Pearl laying next to him in his beautiful sunroom watching the Red Sox game. He will also be able to spend more time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Hopefully with more continued at home rehab and therapy he can get back to his Captain’s seat aboard the Kelly Lynn.

My father has always been the rock of our family and friends. Always the one to drop everything to help others. Something like this Go-Fund Me, he would feel too proud/ashamed to ask others for money. Seeing him now with that wonderful wit and beaming smile gives me hope that he can be back to the way he wants to live his life. My family and I truly appreciate anything you can do to help us during these trying times.
