Help Mike Heal His Heart!

Dear Friends,

Today we are writing to ask for your support for our friend in magic, Michael Kaminskas. Mike is going through a serious medical battle with sudden heart failure. It is a scary time for him and all those who love him. 

For months, Mike was unable to work. He battled infections and pneumonia in both lungs and was taken to the emergency department and admitted to the University of Maryland Shore Medical with a failing heart. As a bonus of the excellent care, they also discovered a large hernia that is pushing up on his lungs. Mike was suffering; he couldn’t breathe; he was confused, alone, and scared. He was diagnosed with heart failure, and his heart was functioning at an EF value of 20%. This means his heart was pumping blood at about 1/3 the rate of a healthy heart. 

Mike was finally released from the hospital, and after months of not being able to work and needing to cancel future bookings, his current bills have become unmanageable. His priority and focus need to be on getting healthy and healing his heart.

As he navigates this cardiac battle, treatment, and care, he is praying for relief and desperately needs our help. 

The magic community is a close-knit and intensely loyal clan. Magicians understand the nature of the entertainer lifestyle and the effects of it. We take care of our own! There are few people in the magic world that we as magicians admire more than those who are the pillars of our community, like Mike. For over 40 years, he has been a mainstay in magic, contributing through ideas, books, lectures, performances, and accomplishments that in many ways have shaped us and our experiences in magic.

On a personal note, I go back with Mike to nearly 30 years ago when he was lecturing at Denny & Lee’s. We connected immediately, as most people do with Mike. I knew he was going to make an impact in the world of magic! 

He is trying very hard to maintain a positive outlook. Please, if you can help financially, it is appreciated, and we are all so grateful. Any amount helps!
