Help Mike, Krystal & Matt After House Fire
Donation protected
On 12/11 at 9 am, my parents, Mike and Krystal Kieke, and my Uncle Matt Kieke lost everything in a tragic house fire.
My uncle was saved by our long time neighbor, who happened to be taking the trash out and saw the flames bursting through the windows. He bravely went into the house and woke him up and got him out, while his wife was diligently trying to get ahold of my parents, who were at the hospital in Coupeville for my moms chemo treatment.
The South Whidbey fire and rescue team had over 20 firefighters come, some of them volunteers who offered their time and efforts to fight my parents house fire. The amount of support the EMTS provided to my uncle and our neighbor was amazing and we are truly so grateful they were able to make it to the house in less then 15 minutes.
The community has helped us so much last night and today by gathering clothes, toiletries, bedding, household supplies, and food. The Red Cross has been a tremendous resource and was able to help us with getting my moms medications, giving us toiletries and blankets.
While my parents did have insurance, it was only for the land. The entire structure and all the belongings inside were completely lost and the house is inhabitable. The house will need to be totally removed, the septic system fixed and then maybe we can bring in a new home for them.
My mom is still currently fighting breast cancer and undergoing treatments every 21 days. She is bed bound, and still suffers the side effects of Chemo. My dad works hard every day to take care of my mom and uncle, and holds a full time job at Payless Foods as a butcher for a little over a year now. Many of you may know both of them from their time with US or Heritage Banks. We are a long time South Whidbey family in need of our community to help us rally around them in their greatest time of need. I know together we can rebuild a place for my parents and uncle to call HOME again.
Thank you so much taking your time to read, share or donate in honor of the Kiekes.
