Mike "The Bejkr" Needs Our Dough

You may know Mike Zakowski aka "The Bejkr" from Artisan Bakers or the Friday farmer's markets in Sonoma,  as a teacher of specialty baking all over the world, a consult to your own bakery, a fierce flatbread maker, a crazy bread enthusiast delivering goods on his bike, as a neighbor or friend.

2 years ago it was discovered that Mike had Oropharyngeal cancer on the right side of his neck.  He had surgery to remove the cancer and did not need any further treatment.

This February it was discovered that his cancer returned on the other side and he immediately had 2 consecutive surgeries to remove tonsils, lymph nodes, and partial left lingual tonsil.  

Although Mike would prefer only a holistic approach for healing, doctors and specialists are strongly encouraging both radiation and chemotherapy for extended life expectancy.   Unfortunately radiation targeted in this particular area of the body can prevent swallowing and cause a loss of taste, which is devastating for someone who's livelihood
is food!  

Mike is currently seeing cancer specialists, using harmless and natural health remedies, receiving care in the form of acupuncture and massage, and continuing his extremely healthy lifestyle with diet and exercise in hopes that his body will heal quickly after such invasive treatments.  

Please contribute if you can, tell a friend, share this story, buy some bread at the market before he starts treatment, say a prayer,...and the list goes on for the many wonderful ways we can contribute in our own way.  All funds will pay for treatments, both recommended and elected, recovery time with significant wage losses, and current and future medical expenses.
