Help Milah Get Life-Saving Surgery
Donation protected
Milah, a healthy and active five-year-old dog, fell seriously ill on September 12. After noticing labored breathing and a sniffle, Justin and Trina took her to the vet, who suspected pneumonia. An x-ray revealed alarming amounts of fluid in her chest, preventing a clear view of her organs. She was immediately referred to an emergency vet for life-saving treatment.
At the emergency clinic, 1.5 liters (or about 6 cups) of fluid was drained from Milah’s chest, and she was admitted to the ICU for 24-hour monitoring and oxygen support. Thankfully, tests showed no cancer, tumors, infections, or viruses. The next step—a heart echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) was performed this Thursday to check for heart disease and the results were negative. While there, they had to drain another liter (or 4 cups) of fluid that had reaccumulated.
Milah has now been diagnosed with idiopathic chylothorax, meaning her lymphatic system is leaking fluid into her chest without a known cause. The recommended surgery offers her the best chance at recovery, but the estimated cost is an additional $5,000 on top of the $6,000 already spent on her care.
Justin and Trina are always there for others—Trina as a dedicated 5th-grade teacher and Justin as a supportive real estate agent. Now they need our help. EVERY donation helps, no matter the size, please share the campaign, comment to increase the views and give what you are able. Together, we can give Milah the chance she deserves!
