Help Milena's Mother Fight for Life

Donation protected

Hello. My name is Milena, and I am seeking financial assistance for my mother, who is critically ill.

This is very important to me because I want to save my mother by any means possible and give her the chance to live a few more years with us.

Every dollar will be directed towards her medical bills for quality intensive care.

Diagnosis: Chronic Liver Failure.
Comorbidities: Ascites, Class III-IV heart failure, Type Il diabetes,
Hypothyroidism, Arterial Hypertension.
Complications: Multiple Organ Failure.

I usually don't like to ask for help, but the situation now is different, and my family needs assistance.

On Saturday, June 8th, I received a call from my stepfather, who was crying heavily and begging me to come home to Azerbaijan before it was too late. My mother had suddenly been admitted to intensive care and was near death. They gave her 24 hours, and I flew over within 17 hours.

I am currently in Baku. Words cannot describe the condition in which I found my mother. By the time I arrived, she had come out of the coma but was in a delirious state. She looked paralyzed, with her arms and legs tensely stretched, eyes rolled back, eyes that had changed from green to a very light color, her head tilted, neck twitching, and her mouth making strange involuntary movements. She didn't recognize me or respond to me. The toxins in her liver were so high that they affected her brain. She underwent several blood plasma transfusions and kidney dialysis.

Thank God the worst is over. Her three main organs—heart, liver, and kidneys—were not functioning on their own. She is in the Central Clinic, and with the help of the doctors, she has been stabilized. She is now conscious and can even eat on her own, but she still cannot walk. It is a blessing that my mother did not pass away.

Our family has already spent 25,000 manats (approximately $14,705) for 18 days, which is a lot for us.

Even though my mother is feeling better and has been moved from intensive care to a regular ward, this is an expensive clinic and the only competent one in this city. Therefore, we need funds.

Please help in any way you can; every penny is valuable right now. Thank you in advance.

Update: My grandmother passed away, and after that, my mother's heart condition worsened. They said it's nothing serious—atrial fibrillation, and all the women on my mother's side have weak hearts. At the same time, she was vomiting. The doctors checked her stomach and said everything was fine. They suggested we talk to a neurologist—it's probably stress-related. They prescribed her antidepressants. She kept getting worse. She was admitted to the state cardiology intensive care unit for her heart, and they continued treating her with antidepressants. After she was discharged, we hired two nurses who continued her heart treatment and antidepressants.

At one point, the nurse decided to check and advised calling a private lab to test her liver and kidneys. The levels were off the charts! She deteriorated right there and went into a coma at home.

(I'm furious with the doctors who treated her with antidepressants when her liver and kidneys were probably already failing. But that's the state of medicine in this country.) She was dying, and they didn't want to admit her to the hospital, saying, "We don't need critically ill patients; it increases the death toll"

For this reason, my stepfather had no choice but to turn to a private, expensive, high-quality clinic because we couldn't afford to waste any more time. The situation was serious.

Update: My mom does her first steps, she is not able to lift her spine by herself, but with help she can sit, stay and a little walk.

Update:
Dear friends,

I sincerely thank you for your moral and financial support. We greatly appreciate your help.

My mom is now at home. She is better than she was, but she has not fully recovered yet. She cannot get up and walk on her own without assistance. My younger brother and I cannot take care of her by ourselves, so we have hired a caregiver to help when my stepfather is at work.

Every day, a caregiver comes to help my mom get up and walk to the bathroom. My mom is adamant about not wearing diapers. She has a catheter, but for other needs, she prefers to go to the bathroom herself.

Once a day, a physical therapist visits to help her work on her atrophied muscles, and a nurse comes to give her intravenous injections.

My mom can talk and has regained her appetite, but we prepare special diet meals for her. She is very happy to have us around, and my two-year-old daughter Amelia also tries to take care of my mom, which makes her very happy.

Since my mom cannot bathe yet, I give her foot baths and foot massages every evening, which she eagerly anticipates.

Sometimes, my mom experiences a loss of strength and becomes pale. These moments frighten me because I don't know what to do when I am alone.

She looks much better on this picture PS: my daughter has mosquitoes bites, that’s why we applied some cream on her skin.

My mom says “Thank you God my kids are with me right now” on this picture.

My mom feels very good when my daughter spends time with her.

This picture is “Before”. We made it March 2023
