Millard Livermore, father to Logan, Grandpa to Carson, and a dear friend to many, is currently battling Frontotemporal Dementia and needs URGENT financial help.
This news may come as a surprise to some who are closest to him. Millard has always been outgoing, engaging, intelligent, and kind. Millard’s lust for life, family, and music is infectious. That is why we must all come together and support our “patron” and his family in a time of need.
Millard's current medical issues are causing an IMMEDIATE financial burden. The majority of his treatment is not covered by either insurance or MediCal. His son, Logan, has been and will continue to do everything he can to assist financially.
Here is what we currently know:
- Over the last two years, Millard has had 14 trips to the ER and has been admitted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital 5 times. The Livermore family has exhausted every local resource Santa Barbara County offers.
- Sadly, this is not a curable disease.
- On September 13th, 2021, Millard was admitted to the Stuart & Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA (one of the best hospitals in the United States) and was seen by the top specialists. Millard will never again be able to live alone without full-time care, and, for his safety, needs to live in an assisted memory care facility for the rest of his
100% of all funds raised will go directly to Millard's current & future medical bills and long-term care.

Beginning in early 2020, Millard's son, Logan, noticed a change in his father's behavior. He observed the normally vibrant Millard becoming less interested in being around people and normal activities, instead uncharacteristically opting to withdraw and spend more and more time inside. Around the same time, Logan noticed that Millard had lost his appetite and was beginning to lose weight rapidly.
Over the next couple of months, Logan observed a general decline in Millard's health and outlook and helplessly watched as he became more and more despondent over time.
By the summer of 2020, substantial weight loss and initial signs of increased confusion prompted a visit to urgent care, where lab results revealed that Millard's hemoglobin level was abnormal. He was immediately admitted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for a blood transfusion and an endoscopy. He was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and his general state of confusion was dismissed due to his overall health issues, vitamin deficiency, and poor diet.
After being discharged, he developed a severe urinary tract infection, followed by a prostate infection, and then a severe case of shingles in late December 2020, which lasted until March of 2021. During those months, he became severely depressed and lost all interest in food. His behavior became increasingly manic, and severe impairments to his mobility began to surface.
After multiple ER visits, Millard was again admitted to Cottage Hospital and given a CT scan and MRI, which came back negative. In late April of 2021, he was discharged to Valle Verde, a skilled nursing facility in Santa Barbara. During this stay, he became much more confused and panicked and was put on Resperidone, which didn’t help his condition. He remained at Val Verde facility until May 17th, 2021, and was discharged home.
On May 30th, another dementia episode occurred, resulting in readmission to Cottage Hospital. A second MRI and a PET scan were ordered, and both came back negative. After a week, Millard appeared to be somewhat back to "normal" after a week and was again discharged with a “brain disorder.” He was also taken off Resperidone and prescribed the antipsychotic Zyprexa.
After being discharged in early June of 2021, Millard's cognitive function dramatically declined, and he began to require increased supervision and general assistance.
