Help Mindy Stay in her home and Pay her bills

Time is ticking for a 65-year-old Coral Springs woman who could be forced out of her home -- as well as the entire city -- in three months. HELP is NEEDED ASAP!

 

Mindy Liberman -- a former medical secretary who has lived in Coral Springs since the mid-1970s -- will run out of money in February to pay $1,552 a month for an aging two-bedroom apartment off Coral Ridge Drive.

 

Since the pandemic started, she has burned through her life’s savings and went further into financial decline after having to leave her job, caring for her ailing and now deceased fiancé, and then recovering from hip surgery. But by the end of February, when her housing subsidy will run out, Liberman won’t have enough to cover her rent.

 

Liberman said she’s applied to the federal Section 8 program but there are no openings in the area. She needs to stay close to Coral Springs because she helps her sister who suffers from multiple sclerosis and lives in the city.

 

“Coral Springs has been my home for so long. I love it here. I’ve worked here,” she said. “I don’t want to go anywhere else. And I can’t leave because of my sister.”

 

She said she has trouble sleeping and eating.
