Help Miracle & Amaya after the loss of their mom

Hi, my name is Mary Franklin, and I'm hoping to support my friend Earl and his family through a recent tragedy.
Earl's cousin, Marquita, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 43 in January 2022. She left behind her four-year-old twin daughters, Miracle and Amaya. They are close with their grandmother, but she cannot care for them full time, so Earl is the next immediate family member who can take on their full guardianship.
The girls are handling the shock as well as can be expected, and Earl is making sure they can continue to do the things they love, like being around horses, drawing, and picking flowers.
Earl wants to move out of his one bedroom apartment in Oakland to get more space for the girls. He’s really hoping to find a place where there’s a little bit of a yard where they can play. He will also need support to cover day-to-day expenses, like clothes and food for them.
Earl runs his own landscaping business but is currently recovering from an injury, so he cannot bring in as much income as he usually would. And now, he will need to factor in their care and transportation into his daily routine, which will also impact the number of hours in the day he can dedicate to his business.
The passing of the twins’ mother so early is something no one expected or planned for, so any extra support would make this transition a little less stressful for the girls and Earl.
Thank you for reading and for any support you can share.
