Running to fund a school for kids in Madagascar

Meraki Smile School 

Eight of us from the ESMT Berlin running club are running the Berlin Half Marathon on April 3, 2022 to raise money for Meraki Smile School. Meraki is a non-profit organization founded in Madagascar by a current ESMT Berlin Master's in Management student from Spain, Miriam Aguero.

 

The school’s goal is to provide free, quality education to the country’s underprivileged children, while working in conjunction with locals. Meraki Smile School opened its doors in September 2021 in the suburb of Itaosy in Antananarivo. Since opening, the school has managed to offered free and high-quality education, as well as meals and basic healthcare to 30 students, 15 boys and 15 girls aged from 5 to 7. The aim is to take these youngsters right through to the International Baccalaureate level. The school needs to raise EUR 20,000 to fund its 2022 operations, and to set the path for growth.
