Hello there!
I am Miss Tammy Darling, and I need your help to record my debut EP!
If you are a Miss Tammy Darling fan, love the sound of retro rock 'n' roll, or enjoyed my debut single, Mr Bartender, I encourage you to consider supporting this project!
Since 2018, I’ve been singing retro music as Miss Tammy Darling. Miss Tammy Darling brings audiences the charm of the midcentury with vintage music and style. I strive to highlight influential female artists of the past, such as Wanda Jackson, Brenda Lee, and Connie Francis. In 2019, I released a cover of Gayla Peevey’s “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas ,” accompanied by a quirky music video. Following this, I wanted to continue creating content, though I wasn't keen on recording more covers. This led me to write original music. In 2021, I released my debut single, “Mr Bartender .” This track compelled Darryl Sterdan of Tinnitist to name me “Toronto’s Queen of Rockabilly” in his review of the single.
With a love of old Hollywood, my original music is influenced by 1950’s rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, and pop. I enjoy writing tunes that appeal to a multigenerational audience and encourage listeners to take a step back in time. I plan to continue revitalizing this old iconic sound with a new female perspective.
Creating an EP is the next step forward as a developing recording artist and has been a distant dream for years. As a singer trained in western classical music at Wilfrid Laurier, I’ve always sung music written by others. The pandemic provided time and space to exercise my skills and prove my value as a songwriter. This project is a new challenge that will foster my growth as an artist in a new way. I believe this is my next career milestone!
My debut EP will include seven original tracks exploring a range of iconic sounds from the mid-century, including rockabilly, swing, pop, and rock ‘n' roll. Here is a live video performance of Boogie into the Night, one of the original tracks to appear on the EP.
The budget to create a fully realized album is close to $16,000. This amount covers the cost of session musicians, rehearsal, recording studio, mixing, mastering, album art creation, publicity, and marketing. To this date, I have raised $7,000 through other fundraising initiatives - FACTOR Canada and Region of Waterloo Arts Fund.
Unfortunately, I cannot personally fund the remaining cost, but with your help, I will be one step closer to creating the ultimate Miss Tammy Darling debut EP! Ultimately, if I cannot fundraise enough to record all seven songs, I will release an EP with four original tracks, hoping to release the remaining songs in the near future.
