We are the Missoula Robotics team and this is our 10th year competing in the worldwide FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program that aims to teach student critical thinking, problem-solving, and other STEM skills. Our team is made up of 25 students from three public high schools in Missoula, MT; Sentinel, Big Sky, and Hellgate. As our head coach likes to calls us, the trifecta extraordinaire super-force. During the months of January and February, we have six weeks to build a 125lb robot and go compete at a regional competition with the goal to make it to worlds.  This year we will be traveling again to Calgary, Alberta, CA. where we are able to compete with 40 other international teams.

When we are not busy building robots we have several members that volunteer at the local elementary schools with their Lego Robotics Programs.  We are also busy making items for craft fairs or working on fundraising. Each year the team has to raise around $30,000 that goes to robot expenses, travel, and equipment purchases. When it comes to raising this money we use many different avenues from selling handmade items at craft fairs, working high school concession stands, corporate donations, and public donations.  This year we decided to try to use GoFundMe to allow for an easy way for the public to be able to support us. Any contribution helps us out and please share this campaign to extend the awareness of the Robotics Team.
