Help NC Mayor’s Project!

Hi! My name is Mitchell Whitley, and I am the founder of "Mitchell's Mayors." I am traveling my home state of North Carolina to interview all 551 North Carolina Mayors to understand the issues affecting each NC community from the people who deal with them personally everyday! So far, I have visited/interviewed 251/551.

Additionally, it is my goal to highlight local successes of our Mayors, what it means to be a citizen of each city, and what the Mayors believe it means to be a North Carolinian. Once I meet and interview all 551 Mayors, I plan to publish a book sharing statewide stories and raising awareness of all the issues every single North Carolinian faces. I've seen a lot of interesting things I have seen thus far:

-Meeting a mayor who owns a Bigfoot museum and hunts for it on the weekends

-Meeting a mayor whose dad was a Yankees World Series Champion and remembers being babysat by Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio

-Driving a 1970 Buick Electra 225 in the small town's Christmas parade with the mayor and his wife in the back seats

-Sat inside a NASA Project Mercury space capsule used by John Glenn to first orbit the earth

-Held a beverage can from the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash

-Touched an unexploded bomb from the Battle of Swift Island Bridge
