Hello Everyone,

my name is Naf Mmadi and I'm excited to tell you about my goal to establish an Authentic Bakery in Columbus, Oh Short North area that will be serving real artisanal French Pastries and Baguettes. I have relocated to the United States back in 2017 from Paris, France. I moved to Columbus, Oh in 2022 and i immediately fell in love with the City its melting-pot, thriving culture and community. As a young entrepreneur and a mother of three small boys, I have devoted the past five years to perfect my baking craft in one of the most prestigious baking school “EISF” in Nantes, France in order to improve my knowledge and Baking Skills.

I’m devoted and excited to offer awesome and delicious French Style Pastries and bread options to our OSU Campus Community and Surroundings where it's frequently lacking. Please help me bring you a small taste of France close to you. I have already taken some big steps ahead by finding a Location right in the University District area, off of N High St and W. 5th Avenue to be exact. I have invested all of family and myself personal savings into this project since I’ve been rejected and refused financing by all financial institutions that I have approached with this project so I’ve bated on myself. I’ve taken these steps into purchasing most of the necessary baking supplies and heavy equipments. Despite my best efforts, my bakery's launch has been delayed due to the City's busy schedule therefore also delays on their behalf's in granting the required permits and licenses to operate. My Capital Investment has reached its lowest as result, being dedicated to achieving my project, i have been unable to earn income and i still have to hold my part of responsibility and submit rent rent payment for several months now.

I'm now Here! using this GoFundMe campaigning to ask you all for help so I can keep focus and achieve my dream and satisfy you all with something you are all waiting for. Unfortunately at this point I don’t think I can make it happen without your help. You all my community. With your aid, I'll be able to get past these obstacles and get closer to an opening day of “Appetit Bakery” With your assistance i can establish a location where people can savor freshly baked, premium French pastries and Baguettes produced using materials that are found locally. Your support of this campaign will benefit the local economy and the general well-being of our community. I appreciate your consideration of my cause and any assistance you may be able to offer.

The Vision for the Bakery

I aim to develop a pleasant and inviting French Bakery in the Heart the Ohio State University Campus District. The distinctive features of a real French bakery would be extremely beneficial to the vibrant and diversified community in this area. Our bakery's main goal will be to create delicious pastries and baguettes with the best ingredients available in the area.

In addition to pastries, our bakery will serve savory quiches, tartines, fresh salads and French style sandwiches.

Challenges Faced

There have been many obstacles to overcome on the way to opening “Appetit Bakery”. The delays in obtaining the required permissions from the City of Columbus has been the biggest challenge. Rent payments has been submitted for a location that is still not operational for a considerable amount of time as a result of this bureaucratic delay. In addition to delaying our debut date, each month that goes by without the required permissions increases our financial obligations.

Our budget has been strained by unanticipated expenses in addition to the permission delays.

Use of Funds

We still need to acquire a few essential goods to guarantee the successful opening of

Appetit Bakery. A Cold Monitored Pastry Display is the first necessary piece of equipment that will enable us to present our delicate, fresh pastries in a hygienic and aesthetically pleasing way. This display is priced at $12,531. A top-notch Coffee/Espresso Maker is also required to round out our product line. Providing our customers with high-quality coffee and pastries will provide them with a well-rounded experience and establish our bakery as a popular destination for morning, brunch, and afternoon breaks. The coffee maker that we have chosen, which costs $13,689.60 is necessary to make the rich, fragrant coffee that will go well with our pastries.
