Help Molly's Journey to her Health Recovery & Expenses

Molly (Staton) Harden is originally from Clontarf and the daughter of Tom & Carol Staton. She was born with a submucous cleft palate (a notch in her soft palate and a split uvula). We doctored at the U of M, and this was repaired by them when she was 6 years old.

Fast forward when she was 24 years old, she had her wisdom teeth pulled. This is what triggered her not being able to swallow food. Molly chokes on food, which causes her to have to puree her food in order to swallow. Also, this causes her lack of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins. After doctoring for 6 years, we finally have gotten answers to her swallowing issues and why she's been getting so sick.

Molly has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's, which is an autoimmune disease which attacks the thyroid. Along with this autoimmune disease she has a list of symptoms too. After an evaluation from MN Craniofacial & U of M, they discovered Molly will have to have surgery to bring her flap down from her previous surgery as they believe the flap, uvula, and palate are all playing a part in her swallowing issues. If this surgery is not successful, then Plan B, which would be taking muscle from her cheek to extend the flap and to put the flap back up. She will have a hospital stay and to stay close to the hospital while recovering and to be close in case of an emergency.

Also, before surgery Molly will have to go through a sleep study, swallowing therapy, and myofunctional therapy. With that being said Molly has TMJ causing headaches, jaw, neck, and shoulder pain as her jaw is out of alignment as we found out she has always had these issues and was born with it. Also, along with her lymphatic drainage isn't working properly. Her left side of her jaw is over worked, and right side of jaw isn't working like it should. With this being said the following will have to be repaired: her teeth, jaw surgery, possible tongue tie surgery as well as injections to get the inflammation down.

The insurance Molly has will not cover a majority of the medical bills. With all the medical & monthly bills, gas to go to appointments in the cities, physical, myofunctional, and swallowing therapies the bills will surely add up for her. Molly is not able to work due to all of this. Molly is not one to ask for help, but Molly needs any help she can get.
