HELP Mommy BEAT Pancreatic CANCER!!

On April 30th, 2019 our beautiful Mother was diagnosed with PANCREATIC CANCER. For those of you that know her, know that she is an EXTRAORDINARY human being.
She is loving, caring, smart, cheerful, unbelievably strong and always puts her family and friends first. Since she was diagnosed she has met with the oncologist,
had the first of many blood tests, ct scans, was obligated to spend the first week of diagnosis in our local hospital due to high glucose levels, and extreme case of
jaundice as the bile duct in her liver was blocked by the 3 cm tumor, which is localized at the head of her pancreas. The oncologist explained to mom that she is operable but unfortunately the tumor is too close to both the artery and the vein to operate at this time and suggested chemotherapy to shrink it first.
After making an attempt to place a stent in order to let the bile flow regularly, without success, Moms oncologist notified her that she would have to be airlifted
to another hospital to place the stent, as there are too many risks to take while trying to complete the procedure. Quebec city hospital (Hotel Dieu) is where mom spent
another week, with success of placing the stent, making sure the bile was flowing properly, she was then flown back to her local hospital, which would be an 8-hour
drive by car.
June 4th her chemotherapy began. With a PICC line already installed, a combo of Gemcitabine and Abraxane is what was prescribed for 14 rounds. Unfortunately, after 7 rounds which was barely tolerable, lots of nausea, loss of appetite and lots of time spent cuddled in a warm blanket on the couch, Mom developed an allergic reaction to this treatment which brought it to an abrupt stop.
Next, she was offered FOLFIRINOX, a combination of three ingredients which is EXTREMELY powerful. Her oncologist recommended 4 rounds, but after the very first round Mom spent one week in bed, without anything to eat and could tolerate very little to drink. Within that week, 6 lbs disappeared from her frail body. This is where mom decided she would no longer accept the treatments and would request a ct scan to find out if there were any benefits from, what she called "poison", which was injected in her body.
Thursday, September 5th was the day she had her ct scan. With anxious hearts we asked the doctor if we would have the results that same day. Unfortunately, they were short-staffed and we would have to wait until the next day. Patiently waiting, with overwhelming hearts at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, while Mom and I were out for a drive,
my phone rang and it was Moms nurse contacting me to let me know that the radiologist reviewed moms scan and the only thing she was able to tell me is that they were "GOOD RESULTS", and we would have to wait until Monday when her surgeon contacts her with the complete results and the decisions for step 2!
Yayyyy, we were over the moon with excitement!
Monday, I received the dreadful call ..... YES, the tumor shrunk from 3 cm to now 1.5 cm, but unfortunately it is still to close to the artery and vein to operate. He suggested more of Folfirinox!!
How was I to explain to Mom that she has to go through this again?? I then began to look for more options, thinking there has to be other options!
After hours of searching the web, I came across something called the NANOKNIFE procedure. Still, not telling my mother that she is not yet operable, I researched Nanoknife on Facebook where I found a group called "Nanoknife Surgery Warriors", and requested to join the group, although, as I read I learned that 95% of the patients were from the USA, this did not discourage me!
As I was accepted into this group, I immediately inquired about the procedure and if it is available in CANADA. The replies I received was heartwarming! Yes, it is AVAILABLE in SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN.
I immediately contacted the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where they have confirmed that they DO OFFER this procedure and requested to forward all Moms files as well as her the images from her scans, and they would have the surgeons, Dr. Moser or Dr. Wall contact her. I have explained the procedure to Mom, and she is ready for it!
These medical expenses are not covered by insurance as we will be traveling from Québec to Saskatchewan, and I have also learned that the Nanoknife procedure is NOT covered as well.
Mom has a heart of gold and would do anything to help out any one of us in our time of need. So I'm asking at this vulnerable time in her life that we rally behind her as she takes on this fight.

L'oncologue a expliqué maman qu'elle était opérable, mais malheureusement, la tumeur était trop proche de l'artère et de la veine pour procéder à ce moment-là, alors une chimiothérapie a été suggéré pour la réduire au préalable.
Après avoir tenté de poser un stent afin de laisser la bile s'écouler régulièrement, sans succès, l'oncologue a informé maman qu'elle devrait être transportée par avion dans un autre hôpital pour placer le stent, car il y a trop de risques cette procédure ici actuellement. L'hôpital de la ville de Québec (Hôtel Dieu) est l'endroit où maman sera transporté.
Une autre semaine à Québec, la pose du stent à réussi avec le succès, pour assuré l'écoulement de la bile correctement, elle a ensuite été transportée à son hôpital local, ce qui prend 8 heures d'auto pour les accompagnants mais par chance maman à voyagé en avion.
Le 4 juin, sa chimiothérapie a commencé. Avec une ligne PICC déjà installée, une combinaison de Gemcitabine et d’Abraxane est celle qui a été prescrite pour 14 cycles. Malheureusement, après 7 cycles difficilement tolérables, des nausées, une perte d’appétit et beaucoup de temps passé dans une couverture chaude sur le canapé, Maman a développé une réaction allergique à ce traitement qui l’a stoppé brutalement.
Ensuite, on lui a offert FOLFIRINOX, une combinaison de trois ingrédients extrêmement puissant. Son oncologue a recommandé 4 cycles, mais après le premier, maman a passé une semaine au lit, sans rien à manger et pouvait tolérer très peu de choses à boire. Au cours de cette semaine, 6 livres ont disparu de son corps fragile. C'est là que maman a décidé qu'elle n'accepterait plus les traitements et demanderait un scan pour savoir s'il y avait une quelconque amélioration depuis le début des traitements de ce qu'elle a appelé "du poison", qui lui a été injecté dans le corps.
Le jeudi 5 septembre a été le jour où elle a eu son scan. Avec le cœur inquiet, nous avons demandé au médecin si nous aurions les résultats le même jour. Malheureusement, ils manquaient de personnel et nous devions attendre le lendemain. Nous avons attendu patiemment, avec un cœur débordant à 13h30 Vendredi après-midi, alors que maman et moi sortions faire un tour en voiture, mon téléphone a sonné et une infirmière de maman m'a contacté pour me faire savoir que le radiologue avait examiné le scan de maman et que la seule chose qu'elle a été en mesure de me dire, ces que les résultats était très bon mais que le médecin allait nous contacter avec les résultats complets et les décisions pour l'étape 2!
Yayyyy, nous étions sur la lune avec excitation!
Lundi, j’ai reçu le terrible appel ..... OUI, la tumeur a régressé de 3 cm à 1,5 cm, mais malheureusement, elle est encore trop proche de l’artère et de la veine pour une envisager une chirurgie. Il a suggéré plus de Folfirinox !!
Comment pouvais-je expliquer à maman qu'elle devait recommencer ça ?? J'ai ensuite commencé à chercher plus d'options, pensant qu'il devait y avoir d'autres options!
Après des heures de recherche sur le Web, je suis tombé sur un procédé appelé la procédure NANOKNIFE. Malgré tout, ne disant pas à ma mère qu’elle n’était pas encore opérable, j’ai fait une recherche sur Nanoknife sur Facebook, où j’ai trouvé un groupe appelé "Nanoknife Surgery Warriors" et ai demandé à me joindre au groupe. Les gens étaient des USA, cela ne m'a pas découragé!
Comme j'ai été accepté dans ce groupe, j'ai immédiatement demandé quelle était la procédure à suivre et si elle était disponible au Canada. Les réponses que j'ai reçues étaient réconfortantes! Oui, il est DISPONIBLE en SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN.
J'ai immédiatement contacté le Royal University Hospital de Saskatoon, où ils ont confirmé qu'ils offraient cette procédure et demandé de lui transmettre tous les fichiers de maman ainsi que les images de ses scans, les chirurgiens, les docteurs Moser et Wall prendrons connaissance de son dossier et validerons la faisabilité dans le cas de maman. Ces frais médicaux ne sont pas couverts par l'assurance, car nous voyagerons du Québec en Saskatchewan, et j'ai aussi appris que la procédure Nanoknife n'est PAS couverte non plus.
Maman a un cœur en OR et ferait n'importe quoi pour aider n'importe qui d'entre nous en cas de besoin. Donc, je demande à ce moment vulnérable de sa vie que nous nous rassemblions derrière elle alors qu'elle se bat pour ca vie.
Chaque centime et chaque prière compte et peut aider à atténuer le stress des problèmes monétaires.
