On the night of January 30, 2025, my dear friend Mona Lisa, better known as Sherry Peterson, experienced unimaginable devastation. A powerful storm swept across South Maui, causing immense flooding to her Ohana. Water poured in through the walls, and mud cascaded from the mountain, destroying everything in its path.

Mona Lisa’s livelihood and passion—her art—was completely wiped out. She had been working tirelessly on a new, upcoming art show, but the rain and mud irreparably damaged her work, along with her materials, handcrafted jewelry, and personal belongings.

Beyond the emotional and financial toll, she now faces the daunting task of rebuilding her life, finding temporary housing, replacing basic necessities, and regaining her sense of stability.
