Help Monica through her Healing Journey

Donation protected

Hi , my name Danita Sherrod. I am sponsoring a fundraiser on behalf of my twin sister Monica Sherrod.

! Monica Journey began in 2019 . She was diagnosed with 2 meningioma brain tumors . She was scheduled for her first brain surgery on 12/20/2019 .On 12/9 ,2019.I rushed Monica to the hospital and she was admitted prematurely She could no longer endure the pain nor speak . They decided to move her surgery date up to Dec 12, 2019 .Monica was in surgery for 12 hours . We praise the almighty God ! For guiding the surgeons hands .God has brought her through the 1st challenge. They were able to remove the front right lobe tumor but the second tumor was located in the base of the skull near her sinus area . Due to the location of the second tumor her neurosurgeon had to be very careful . He was unable to remove most of the majority of the second tumor. The right side of her forehead skull was removed as well as her right jaw bone . A few hour's later .Monica arrived to the ICU and we were able to see her . I didn't know what to expect . The doctors had not yet removed her breathing tube due to the duration of her surgery . We said to Monica you did it! When she heard our voice she started to cry while still some what sedated . She tried tried to lift her hand and then her feet . My twin sister was trying to tell me she was very uncomfortable with the breathing tube and wanted them to take it out . I lost it ! . They pulled me out of the ICU. Its much more to that part of this story ...to be continued . Days later we we’re grateful that the pathology test came back benign. Monica tumor was found to be very aggressive ! Just a few weeks after her first surgery . Monica was readmitted into the hospital with a blood clot and she had a infection. God brought her through that as well . She had 30 days of radiation treatment 4 months later to try to treat this second tumor . She recovered radiation . Monica is extremely strong and never complained . However she returned back to hair solon to service her clients :her first love ! She was still dealing with a lot of discomfort and pain .Time has passed and Monica began to become very dizzy again. Her pain began to come back more aggressively . She had another cat scan and a MRI. Her Neurosurgeon, surprisingly told us her tumor has grown back pretty fast. They also told us they have found that the radiation did not treat this type of tumor. Monica needed to have surgery again.. Due to the location of the tumor. This time they had a entire board of tumor specialist meet to put together a game plan. This time Monica 's surgery would involve a plastic surgeon ,a otolaryngologist and Monica’s amazing neurosurgeon. Monica surgery was scheduled on 6/30/2021. Even though Monica was confident with the plan and trusted her neurosurgeon . We as a family and other's wanted her to get second opinion. Time was moving fast. Due to the delay in paperwork her approval for her second opinion was granted the day her surgery . How stressful was that ! Monica was not enthused !The family desired her to get a second opinion due to the seriousness of her surgery. The night before her scheduled surgery the family came together to try to convince her to post-pone her surgery for a second opinion. We were there to about 1:30 am . My sister told me "Nita" if you knew the pain I was in, you would want me to have this surgery. She said you "could not" endure this pain. " I don’t complain because I don’t want you to worry . Monica in faith arrived to the hospital to prepare for her second surgery. When the family and I want back to see her off .Monica was not scared! her faith was so strong !She had all the doctors laughing .She said Nita ,I AM READY . She said to the team of doctors Please get this tumor out of my head. What a since of humor. She said , I am AKA Moni G's ! Surgery started at 8:45 am . Monica was in surgery this time for 8 hours. We received the first update about 3 1/2 hours into surgery . They said it took them just 3 hours just to get to where they needed to be to start to remove this tumor. We received our first update .They told me that surgery is going to be a little while longer than expected. Second update: they said she was holding up great with the anesthesia and surgery would several more hours. Third update They advised me the neurosurgeon has done his part of the surgery. It was now the Otolaryngologist and plastic surgeon turn. We finally got a final update that her surgery was complete and that she was in recovery . They told us they were able to remove her breathing tube a few hours prior to going into the ICU. To God be the glory !they said this was one of their major and most challenging reconstructive surgery's they have ever performed . In tears …God is so Faithful !!He is so Amazing! We had so many people praying and God honored are prayer request. Its was time for the family consultation while she was in recovery . Monica's neurosurgeon said they were very satisfied that they were able to remove 98% of the tumor. They also mentioned they had to remove many of her nerves in her forehead . Long story short. Monica is home! Monica did not have to go to rehab thus . The doctor said its healing time . Monica is talking with ease ,she got her eyesight back in her right eye . One of the risk factors’s of this surgery was loss of vision in her right eye. Monica passed her vision test several hours after surgery. The doctors were amazed !We have a testimony to tell and have truly experienced a miracle. Monica has now been discharged and is in a process of healing . I understand we all are experiencing some challenging times. Monica has demonstrated to her family and friends to to walk by faith and not by site .

As you know Monica is self-employed as a Hair Stylist and a very talented one !She loves what she does and her clients !She can’t wait to get back to making everyone beautiful again .. We are asking for your continuous prayers during her journey .

Family and Friend's Monica is in need for some financial support during her recovery . Her recovery time will be up to 5 months. Even if you are unable to make any contribution . We appreciate your prayer's and spiritual deposit for her healing ❤️‍ !

Humbly and Sincerely ,
