Help Moo come home from ICU!!
Donation protected
When I brought Moo to the ER on Wednesday we thought it was a straightforward UTI, but it turned out to be anything but. 2 hours into his visit, he was on deaths doorstep. A puncture in his bladder or urethra had developed and urine was collecting in his abdomen, a life threatening situation that escalated quickly. I was given the option to take him to ICU or put him down. I brought him to ICU and prayed it would work.
The ICU vet had him for about and hour, called me back to say he was in grave danger and that he would need $10k-13k in care if surgery were needed. At that point, I had no choice but to put him down.
I picked out his urn, signed his papers and waited for them to bring him to me for our goodbyes. The Moo they brought me didn't match anything we'd seen just hours ago: he was active, curious, alert and his usual nutty self! Jumping all over things, cuddling, playing and best of all, wanting to LIVE. I called for the vet, who came in with the euthanasia drugs in hand and he gently asked if it was time. I said I don't think we're making the right decision. The vet observed him for a few minutes, checked his numbers again and said "I'm changing my mind too, his numbers look much better and the energy I'm seeing is unbelievable. I think he just needs time."
So, I left him overnight and Thursday morning got a call from the vet that can only be described as miraculous: his numbers had completely normalized, there was no fluid in the abdomen and the vet described his attitude as "adorably spicy." I was able to visit him yesterday, and he is well on the road to recovery.
The excruciating place we're in now is this: my funds may not allow him enough time to heal fully before I've exhausted my resources. If he needs more care beyond tomorrow (our current bill is already at $5,000 which I cannot afford), I may still be in the position of having to put him down, not because he's not doing well but because I can't pay for more time.
Please consider your donation not as money but as TIME, a precious resource that he desperately needs right now. If you aren't in a position to donate funds to buy him more time, all I'd ask is if you all could pass it along to your networks. With the holidays up on us, people may be looking for places to donate and we can use all the help we can get.
Every cent raised equals more time for him to have a chance to come home. Please help bring him home! THANK YOU!!
