Please help mother of two who was shot in Colorado
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
We are accepting donations to support a mother of 7-year-old twins. The mother, Nicki Douglass-Johansen, was shot twice by her estranged ex-boyfriend on March 20, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado. She is now in critical condition at UC Health’s Anschutz hospital at the University of Colorado.
Disregarding an existing protection order, the “ex” stalked and then rushed Nicki in her car parked in her driveway. The twins were in their car seats in the back. Unable to open the locked door to get to Nicki, he fired the first shot through the driver side window. Then he walked around the car and shot her a second time through the passenger window. As a result, she was struck twice, once in her neck and once in her thigh.
The son told police he and his sister ducked down in their seats because “they did not know if their dad was going to shoot them too.” After their dad left the scene, the son called out to a next-door neighbor for help who then called 911.
Nicki has suffered extensive wounds, both physically and emotionally, and will have a long and difficult recovery with lifelong physical impairments. All proceeds of this GoFundMe will go immediately to helping with treatment, medical bills and the children's needs as their mother works on surviving this crisis. We will provide updates all as information comes available.
Thank you for your support and sharing with your communities to spread awareness about Domestic Violence.
The GoFundMe organizer for this fundraiser is Martha Douglass-Johansen, Nicki's mother.
