Help Mothers Get the Care They Deserve!

Hi, my name is Jana Karam, an aspiring OB/GYN, and a current postdoctoral research fellow at Mayo Clinic in Women's Health Department. I am passionate about improving maternal healthcare for underserved communities. I’ve seen firsthand how barriers to care—such as transportation, lack of access to providers, and limited resources—affect the health of mothers and babies, particularly in rural and low-income neighborhoods.

Every mother deserves quality care, but for many women in underserved communities, that care is out of reach.

In rural areas, low-income neighborhoods, and communities of color, access to prenatal and postnatal care remains a significant challenge. Women in these areas face higher rates of maternal and infant mortality, not due to a lack of care, but because they don’t have access to the care they need.

But we can change that!

I am raising funds to support initiatives that will:

-Provide mobile health clinics for underserved communities, offering essential prenatal and postnatal checkups, screenings, and health education.

-Fund transportation services to help women get to vital prenatal and postnatal appointments.

-Create and distribute maternity care packages, which include prenatal vitamins, baby clothes, and information on maternal health.

Together, we can help ensure that every mother has access to the care she deserves during pregnancy and after childbirth, regardless of where she lives or her socioeconomic status.
