Help Moua Family Recover from House Fire

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Nao. For those who haven't already heard. On Thursday Februrary 24th, my family's home in CA caught on fire in the late hours of the night. During this time, my mom along with a toddler and an infant, was in the living room enjoying some television time. Alerted with some loud popping noise, my mom got up to check around the house and noticed smoke coming out from the bedroom halls. As she opened her bedroom door to investigate the smoke, her entire room was covered up in flames. Fearing for their lives, she immediately grabbed the two little ones and ran outside to the neighbors for help. Because the fire was already huge at this point, my mom was unable to grab anything except bring herself and the two children out to safety. My mom and the kids didn't even have jackets on to keep them warm.

As of right now, the cause of the fire is unknown. My family was seeking refuge with a relative as they waited for insurance and inspections to be done on the home. They were told to not touch or move anything before insurance/inpsections are done due to chemical reasonsings. And as if the fire wasn't enough, as my family went back into the home the day of the insurance visitation, they discovered that the house was broken into. Valuables of theirs were stolen such as their TV and projector amongst other things. My family was hoping to go back and see if anything was worth salvaging just to see another heartbreaking situation on top of what they were already going through. I'm so disappointed that there will be people out there taking advantage of my familys situation and stealing from them, when they've already lost so much. They barely have anything left except the clothes on their backs the night of the fire.

My mom's entire bedroom completely burned down, every single thing from her bed to her clothes, purse and personal belongings are all gone. All of my hmong clothes that was left behind, along with hers and my dads real silver hmong necklaces (xauv hmoob) have completely been burnt and melted. As you all know, those real silver hmong necklaces are very expensive and you can never get them now at the price that it's worth.

As for the remainder of the house, it is completely destroyed. Everything is covered in ashes and was doused with water. Per the health inspectors, whatever is left that is even worth salavaging may be contaminated with chemicals due to the age of the house so they do not recomment even trying to recover anything from the home.

Although my family lost so much in this fire, we are just glad everyone got out safely. My family is completely devasted and they are displaced for the foreseeable future. Asking for help is not an easy thing, however at this point anything would be of great help to them. For now, they will continue to stay with our relative until they're able to be back on their feet. I personally would like to THANK those of you whose already reached out to help. My family and I are truly grateful and we APPRECIATE it so much. I also want to thank anyone and everyone in advance for thinking of my family during this tough time.
