Help Mr. Pete Stay Close to Oneonta
Donation protected
As the South Bay Union School District ends their Security-Resident Program, we are all saddened by what that means for Oneonta Elementary.
Our beloved Mr. Pete will need to leave his residence at school to look for other housing. We all know how crazy rent is in the area, and he is even looking as far as Arizona to find something affordable. Mr. Pete organizes the chaos that is school drop-off and pick-up. He knows every child by name (and even remembered my son's name before he was a student there) and welcomes them to school with a smile.
All of us parents know how frustrating getting kids to school on time can be and how busy the road is. He keeps us all safe and losing him will be losing an integral part of Oneonta culture. As a Vietnam Veteran, he presents to the 3rd grade class every year for Veterans' Day to teach children about his and his family's military history. He is our children's Safety Patrol Leader and Supervision Assistant, but even more, he is part of the Oneonta Family.
If we can't raise enough money to keep Mr. Pete living close, then let's at least offer him a generous retirement gift.
