Mr. Ali, age 69, operates the newsstand at East 28th Street and Park Avenue South. On the evening of August 4th, 2023, what started out as a giveaway hosted by Twitch star Kai Cenat, turned into a riot. And during that riot, Mr. Ali was attacked and beaten by teenage boys and girls who then proceeded to rob his newsstand of over $3,000 in cash and goods. Mr. Ali is the breadwinner and provider for a family of 5 whom he supports back in his native Bangladesh.
