Help Mrs Gill

Mrs Jayasri Gill’s story is a 55 year old woman who because of unfortunate circumstances is homeless.
She has been unable to find work and is now living on and off at a motel, paying for it by selling her possessions. She has used up all her savings and is living day by day.
She is further handicapped by partial blindness due to cataract. Her husband left her a few years ago and she has no family or friends in the US. She is an immigrant from India who came over on a IT consulting gig.
A couple of us have been working to help Mrs Gill get back on her feet. She needs more help than we are able to provide. Specifically, she needs:
1) an immediate short term job - we took her to a couple of stores, Whole Foods, QFC - we hope she can get a job in the next day or so paying minimum wage.
2) room to stay at an affordable price. Using Facebook Marketplace we have helped her find some shared rooms. They all want first month rent and one month deposit. The rents range from $625 - $800
3) long term job. Mrs Gill has a Masters Degree in mathematics from IIT Kolkata and is a full stack coder.
The ask:
1) Mrs Gill needs about $1500 for room rent. She needs about $500 for food and travel to and from her new accommodation to work. We want to help her get cataract surgery with the remaining $1000.
Once she has had her eye surgery and has her drivers license reinstated she will buy an inexpensive used car to commute to work. Or better still work a long term job working remotely.

Our original estimate of $1,000 towards her medical work was way unrealistic. Therefore we are increasing the target accordingly.
