Help Mrs. Mandy Shockley hear
When Mandy Shockley was 21, she was diagnosed with kidney disease. By age 23, she needed a life saving kidney transplant, which she fortunately received from her brother. As a side effect of rigorous treatments and the disease itself, Mandy is afflicted with progressive hearing loss. For the majority of her adult life, hearing has been a major struggle. She struggles every day to hear her family, friends, and everyone else she interacts with on a daily basis.
On Thursday January 17th, Mrs. Shockley finally did something for herself by visiting an audiologist. They told her that considering the current decay of her hearing, she needed hearing aids for both ears. Unfortunately, the cost of hearing aids can be up to $10,000.
With hearing aids, Mrs. Shockley will finally be able to be an active participant in her own life. For the first time, she will be able to hear the voices of her own children with clarity. Hearing aids will allow her to confidently communicate with her students, imparting her gift as an educator with generations to come.
