Grateful day!
My name is Alesha Savannah, newly crowned Ms. Wheelchair Georgia 2022 and I’m excited to begin fundraising and crowdfunding to help cover the entry fee, travel, pageant coach, attire, and additional expenses for the 2022 Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant in Grand Rapids, MI!
As Ms. Wheelchair America, I will continue to advocate for everyone who has a disability. Disability is not a curse. Our disabilities do not define us, life is not over for us, it’s just done differently! You can still live a full life. My commitment is to build a personal development mentor program that encourages and builds self-confidence, self-worth, self-esteem, and independence for young women of all abilities.
I’ll utilize my experience as a paraplegic to help others see the infinite possibilities of thriving with a disability. Depending on the type of disability overcoming may mean that you come to terms with your disability and that you do everything you can to live life to the fullest within your present set of circumstances. Overcoming does not necessarily have to mean that you get rid of your disability completely. As we change our mindsets we have the power to change our lives. No matter what, the most important thing to remember is that you still have a purpose, you can always be of value to others, and you can continue to grow and evolve regardless of your disability.
As the titleholder for our Peach State and America I will advocate for the need of equal access, opportunity, education, consideration and basic human respect and dignity for those with physical or mental disabilities. Our stories are often brought to the media only for pity or as inspiration instead of education; this needs to stop and we must join the movement to reduce the stigma associated with being differently abled. Bringing awareness to our adaptability, resilience, strength, and determination. Ultimately, I will be a pillar in both disabled and abled communities; for people to have a person who is resourceful, making an impact, and living proof that no matter the adversity, a full beautiful life is possible.
Pageants add up with deadlines quickly approaching, so any contributions or sponsorship is humbly appreciated. No gift is too small or too big! I will use my platform to speak out loudly carrying this message…
Disability is not a curse so pity us not. We only seek your support to change the worldview of people who are different through representation, inclusion, and accessibility in home living, fashion, sports, entertainment, education, and the workforce . We are not asking for exceptions to the rules—We are fighting to rewrite the standard!
Thank you for your support and encouragement as I continue on to claim the throne as Miss Wheelchair America.
