Help Muay Thai Legend Dieselnoi

Donation protected
[Update August 13: Dieselnoi's doctors have decided not to do the heart surgery, but he needs to be monitored with regular health checks. The donations from you all are helping with the various medical costs involved in his current health condition. We'll leave this campaign open in case of an emergency or sudden need for help for Dieselnoi. Any new contributions will be transferred to him.]

[Update May 22: Visited with Dieselnoi yesterday. His health is not good, but he's getting the care he needs and is doing the best he can to rest up for his heart surgery in July. The funds raised up to that point were 85,000 Baht, which was handed over to Dieselnoi to help pay for his medical expenses. This GoFundme will remain open until his surgery if you would like to help out.]

[Update May 17: The operation has been postponed in order to call in a specialist, who Dieselnoi said will be available to come perform the surgery in July.]

[Update May 16: Dieselnoi has gone back to the hospital for an operation on his heart today.]

[Update May 10: Just spoke to Dieselnoi and he says he has to go back into the hospital for surgery on the 16th.]

Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn is a legend among legends in Muay Thai. He's a pillar in the Muay Thai community here in Thailand and anywhere he goes, he's the star around which everyone else revolves. He just has a different gravity.

A couple years ago he had emergency heart surgery and his health has been a limiting factor for him ever since. He has continuing health problems.

Currently Dieselnoi is in the Taksin Hospital in Bangkok with a lung infection. A friend posted this photo of him and some high-profile members of the Muay Thai community, that friend also being a former star of boxing - Tawee or Kaowpong Sitchuchai - organized a way for fellow Thais to donate toward Dieselnoi's medical expenses. To be clear, this is not life-threatening. You can see the Facebook post of those donations here.

This is a very Thai thing, to rally the community together in order to help someone out. It's a non-Thai thing, too, and because Dieselnoi is an adored and valued figure to those of us in the global Muay Thai community as well, we can demonstrate our support with this modest GoFundMe to help with his recovery as well. The doctor wants him to stay 2-3 more days in the hospital, at minimum, after which time they'll check again whether he can go home. He's taking strong medicines to combat the infection in his lungs and with his heart condition as a factor, they just want to keep a close eye on him.

The goal is set at $500, which is around 17,000 Baht. That's a small portion of what his overall treatment will cost and it's yet uncertain how much longer he'll be in the hospital, but again this is a gesture toward our support of Dieselnoi, taking care of our legends and heroes, in whatever small way we can.

We will keep this campaign open for a few more days, until I can go deliver the funds to him in the hospital after the operation.

If you have any questions you can private message me on my Facebook Page .

This is Dieselnoi's thank you to everyone who has helped out and sent well-wishes: you can see it here on Facebook .
