Help Muhammad Shahid's Father Get a Kidney Transplant

My name is Muhammad Shahid, and I’ve spent my life as a dedicated son taking care of my family in Pakistan. I live in New York with my wonderful wife, and we are celebrating our first year of marriage together. I am a dedicated and honorable son who wants to support my family overseas as I try to manage to build a life with my lovely wife in New York.

However, 5 months ago, my father was suddenly diagnosed with kidney failure and was placed on the transplant list. I would have donated my kidney to my father, but in 2011, I donated my kidney to my cousin who was born with kidney disease. I saw that my cousin was dying and decided that I could not stand by without trying to save his life. I could never imagine that many years later, my father would develop kidney failure and would need a kidney transplant. After 2 months of waiting for a kidney to become available, my father was matched with a private donor.

In Pakistan, there is no health insurance coverage, so the procedure has to be paid for completely out of pocket. The total cost of the procedure is around 65,000 US Dollars, and I have managed to sell a lot of my assets, but find that I am still short of money. For me, saving my father is essential because he is the head of the household. My family cannot handle another loss like this as we have already been through so much turmoil.

In 2019, my sister, who was pregnant with her second child, developed liver damage. Unfortunately, my sister passed away, as well as the baby. We are still grieving her loss at this time. Every time I think about my father, I am reminded of my sister who passed away.
