My name is Ulrika Bacher, from Finland, and I am helping Muhannad Jalhoum in Gaza with his fundraiser. We came in contact after him reaching out for help. Muhannad and his family of seven people need to leave Gaza to safety, and they are also depending on donations to survive their everyday life during displacement. Please read Muhannad's story as he tells it to you:

Hi, I'm Muhannad. I the eldest brother of my family at 21 years old, and I'm trying to keep my family together in really tough times. We've been through a lot. We lost our home, our dreams and our memories in the war. It was devastating for all of us. We had to move a lot just to find some safety - from northern Gaza to Rafah, then to the west, and finally to the centre. We were living in a tent, trying to make the best of the difficult situation. I wish to be able complete my studies, to travel abroad, and one day rebuild my family’s destroyed house.

The family house was totally demolished in October 2023. We were inside while it was being bombed, but managed to get out, albeit hurt.

My family consists of my sisters, Nour, Sundus, and Marah, my brother Majd and my mother and my father. My mother has diabetes which is difficult to live with in our circumstances.

I was studying to be an engineer, but that came to a temporary halt when it all fell apart. Now, my main focus is making sure my family has enough to eat and drink and stay healthy. But it's difficult. Everything is very expensive, and it is difficult to afford even the basics.

We are asking for a helping hand to get us back on our feet, and to help us be able to evacuate. Your support would mean a lot to us – it could help us afford the things we need to survive and maybe give me the chance to return to my studies one day. How the funds will be used

The first goal of the fundraiser will be to buy food and basic necessities on a daily basis to help the family survive. By time the aim is to hopefully be able to increase the goal to make evacuation possible. The cost of traveling and leaving Gaza is at least $5,000 per person via Hala Company, but can amount to the double.
