Help Musa go to school in The Gambia
Donation protected
Hi. Thank you first of all for taking time out to read this request for funding which is on behalf of Abdoulie Trewally who is the father of Musa. Musa and his dad live in the town of Busumballa, The Gambia.
My name is Stuart Gay. I am a resident of the UK. I have known Abdoulie for over 15 years. For many years, he worked as a cleaner at one of the tourist hotels. However, at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Abdoulie was laid off. Since then, despite his attempts to find work, he has not achieved his dream to return to his hotel work. Instead, he has found some small, poorly paid tasks. The main reason – Abdoulie never had an education – he cannot read or write English very well.
I am determined that the same fate would not befall his eldest two children – Lamin and Musa. I have been able to link Lamin to a sponsor for his schooling, and he now proudly cycles to school each day and enjoys his studies and his recreation with his classmates.
I now want his younger brother, Musa, who is 12 years of age, to have the same chance, and I believe it will be done if you support my appeal.
Further to travel that Lamin, Musa must use local transport for the public minibus ride to his school 40 minutes’ drive away in the town of Brikama. His father has laboured making cement blocks for local building projects and has scraped together enough to pay for the 1st term of Musa’s schooling.
Without your help, Musa’s 1st term at school will be his last term. He will be back to where he was when I met him at his family home last November. He was hauling leaking buckets of water up from the well to water the small patch of crops his father has grown to sustain the family and sitting at the gate, wistfully watching his friends go to and return from school.
Could you help, please? I want to give Musa the same chance his brother had. and gain the opportunity that denied his father a decent education. I want Musa to get schooling and the incidentals that emanate from that schooling – transport, meals, uniform, books etc. until the time comes for him to take his final exams and get the grades he deserves and that will give him a chance, and that is all he wants, for a better future than he otherwise would get.
Please donate what you can and when you can so that I can consolidate the payments and get them sent off to pay the school fees.
Thank you for caring and supporting this initiative. Thank you for being there for Musa and his family.
