My name is Ayman Mghamis, I'm a Director at Delia Arts Foundation in Gaza, I'm also a Musician/Hip Hop artist and have been contributing to the development of the music scene in Gaza for almost two decades by supporting emerging artists, setting up a music center that was open to young Gazans, leading workshops on producing and writing music, setting up performances and much more. And currently, I am still actively working on the ground with the Delia Arts Foundation to set up shelters for displaced Gazan artists and their families, keeping them as safe as one could be, supporting with their daily needs, and encouraging them to play music as a means to cope, especially for the kids in the shelters and their surroundings.

I have written many songs about the situation in Gaza, describing life under occupation, the blockade, and hardships.

In 2009 my father was killed when Israel bombed our building, I survived along with my mom and 2 siblings but I still remember it as if it was yesterday, the trauma triggered over and over every time we are under siege over the years.

Today I am blessed with an amazing wife, Sahar, two beautiful kids, Joury & Jojo a third child on the way, Ward, a boy due next month. I'm very happy about my wife's pregnancy but also very scared. The healthcare system has collapsed, there is no medicine and people are having surgery and amputations without anesthesia. While I write these words the war jets and drones are hovering above us with no break from its relentless buzzing sound, I'm holding my kids close to me and singing songs to them to distract them from the scary sounds around us.

Even when I was lucky to have traveled to Europe I always looked forward to returning to Gaza where I have worked hard to build my career here and proud that I was able to build a home for my family, it was my little heaven. Our home was destroyed by Israel in October, and so was my office where me and my colleagues worked.

The second week of October 2023, my family was forced to evacuate Gaza City to Nusseirat then again we had to flee to Der Al Balah and again to Rafah. The displacement is exhausting and traumatizing especially for my mother and the kids. Me, my wife, two kids, mother, sister, brother, his wife and two kids are all living in one tent as it's the only option. My sister-in-law, Israa, had treatment for cancer last year and needs follow ups. We are facing the harshest winter, aid is being stopped from entering so we lack basic necessities, water and food. Because we fled our homes with only the clothes on our back we don't have any of our belongings to deal with the harsh conditions.

The feeling of losing everything you have in a moment is like running barefoot in a forest of thorns without knowing where it ends and what you will face next. I'm doing my best to keep my family safe but there is so much unknown. We hope everyday this nightmare will end so we can return to our homes or what's left of them and rebuild. My daughter wants to be a singer, my son wants to be a drummer and my nephew wants to become a futbal player, I wish to help them follow their dreams and achieve it.

The funds raised will

Help my family to survive with everything needed on the ground. Wood and coal, food, water, diapers, detergent, mattresses, winter clothing especially for the kids.
Any medical emergencies needed with my wife's pregnancy. Vitamins; Folic acid and Multi vitamins for her pregnancy.
Housing and rebuilding our lives.

We talk with our kids remembering the good times in our home, playing, singing and hanging out. My daughter yesterday told me that she wants to have her room back and my son wants his bicycle, such small dreams that I will try to make real again.
