Hi everyone, My name is Karen and my mother, Adeline is 103 years old. She comes from a family of 12 siblings & her sister passed at 106, she is the last one standing and believe me she is amazing. I wouldn’t normally ask anybody for money, but I’m kind of in a bind right now and I’m not sure what else to do. so if you could help that would be amazing. This is what happened, seven years ago my mothers home was sold, and for the last seven years she has been traveling from New York to Nevada to my house and my sisters every six months. But now at 103 years old, it’s become extremely difficult to travel like that. So we found her an adorable little apartment in a senior community living place in Nevada. The weather is perfect for her no more cold winters in New York. She’s thriving. She has friends. She’s playing games. She’s visiting with people. She has 24 hour caregivers who take care of everything she could possibly need. And she’s no longer sleeping in a chair in someone’s house because it’s impossible to entertain her all day long and keep a house going. My mother at 101 had a heart attack, and we begged the doctors to save her life, and they decided to put six stents in her chest . With no guarantee that it would help her live any longer. Well I guess the saying is true she’s strong like a bull. because this woman is she still here and she is stronger than ever.
- Now my problem is her rent is $3900 a month with no insurance assistance, it’s private pay because she doesn’t qualify to live in anything that the insurance picks up. she has no long-term insurance. And no plans to help. I hate to see her have to leave because she’s thriving so much. If I could raise enough donations, then that would allow her to stay as long as she wanted.. I will continue to put in what I can for her rent and her supplies for bathroom & personal items.
- You see my mom has worked her whole life. Practically, she worked for an attorney’s office until she was 95 years old and had no choice but to retire because the lawyer was. Myself and my daughter Kimberly are trying to do the best we can to pay rent for my mother, it’s hard when nobody else in the family will split it. She has such a beautiful soul inside and out.
So if you can help her in any small way, I would thank you from my heart to yours. And if you can’t then, that’s ok too. thank you for reading my story about my beautiful Mother. God Bless you. Karen
