Marta came out of surgery yesterday in good spirits.
The surgery was to cut the dead skin and the excess of scars on her nose so she can breath through her nose by herself. In the left eye there is more progress and the cornea is regenerating a little, the right eye is not responding yet but we are hopeful that it will. Burns on her face are much better, the inner right eyelid is a bit worse but overall the news is good!

Help us save our beautiful Marta’s eyes. Marta Bustos is married to my nephew David Meehan. She had a terrible accident Thursday June 11th that may permanently blind her. She was making soap and it blew up in her face causing severe burns to her eyes and face. She has been in Harborview in the ICU burn unit since June 11th and had surgery on Saturday June 13th. We are still waiting to see how her eyes (yes, BOTH of them) respond to the scarring and surgery.
We are creating this Go Fund Me page because Marta and David are very young and do not have insurance. She needs immediate financial assistance and will need ongoing help with her medical expenses during her recovery to pay for treatment. They are both self-employed and Marta will not be able to work until she at least has some sort of vision impaired lifestyle in place.
She needs financial assistance and any support or resources that will help her set up a vision impaired lifestyle.
