Help my big brother Shane beat leukemia!
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Last week my big brother Shane was suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and has developed numerous dire complications in addition to cancer. He has been hospitalized at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane since going to the doctor for shortness of breath and learning his white blood cell count was dangerously low. This diagnosis came as an extreme shock - those of you who know Shane personally know that he is a healthy, strong guy who spends most of his time outdoors.
He has received preliminary cancer drugs to buy time until they have bone marrow biopsy results back. He receives multiple platelet and whole blood transfusions every day. He is hanging in there but we know he has a long, hard fight ahead of him.
Shane was life-flighted today, July 22, to Fred Hutch Cancer Center, where he has been accepted as a patient. This could be a lifesaving move - there is a specialist here for this very aggressive leukemia. We are hopeful he will qualify for trial treatments in addition to the protocol treatment for this particular cancer.
Funds will go directly to Shane and his new wife Jamie. They recently bought their first house and were hoping to start a family. Money donated will cover necessary bills and upcoming medical expenses for them.
If you would prefer to donate non-monetarily, Shane and Jamie appreciate prayers being sent their way. Donating blood or plasma is another way to help other cancer patients like Shane. Without donations, he would not be here with us.
Shane is only 42 and has a long, purposeful life ahead of him. Let’s band together to help him fight cancer!
