Hello, world a world that knows humanity and peace.

I never imagined I’d share my story, but today I have no choice. My name is [hala], and I am 20 years old. I graduated high school in 2022 with a 91 average and received a scholarship to study graphic design at university. I had big dreams to become a professor and start my own company to support my family.

But on October 7, 2023, everything changed. A devastating war broke out in Gaza, and our lives were torn apart. My younger brother, Adam, only 10, had to start working to help us survive. And my other brother, Ahmed, who aspired to become a computer programmer, was severely injured by a missile while trying to get us food. His leg was shattered, and he now has metal plates and 20 stitches in his foot.

We fled our home on October 8, leaving everything behind. For the past nine months, we’ve lived in tents, struggling to survive. My father is separated from us, and we don’t even know if he’s alive. I’m now the one responsible for my family, trying to hold things together despite the overwhelming pain and uncertainty.

We are not poor by choice, but the war, the genocide, has stolen our future. I ask you to imagine for a moment what it would be like in our shoes—living with constant fear and loss, fighting for survival every day.
