Your support will help my Brother Fight Liver Cancer

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers! My brother has late stage hepatocellular carcinoma ( liver cancer ). Your support will prolong his life and lessen pain.

He lives in the Philippines with his family. Due to the aggressive late stage of his cancer he doesn’t qualify for liver transplant ( it’s hard to get transplant in the Philippines). Our goal is to manage his debilitating symptoms and severe pain.

The symptoms are devastating - such as hepatic encephalopathy - ammonia build up in the blood stream going to his brain, causing brain fog and high risk for cerebral edema. Ascites - build up of fluid in his abdomen extremely painful, harboring bacteria. Edema, fluid retention. Very low albumin (main protein in the blood ). High INR and Prothrombin time, high risk of bleeding, the list is very long. He is very weak, can barely speak. Cannot get out of hospital bed even to pee.

The list of medications, blood tests, imaging, procedures are endless.

Liver cancer is an overwhelming disease. While this news has been devastating, we are choosing to face this challenge with resilience, and an unwavering trust that his life will be prolong and his pain will be lessen.

My brother worked hard all his life, supporting his family. He doesn’t have any savings and medical insurance.

Our Mom and brother lost their battle to liver cancer and cirrhosis. It’s not related to alcohol consumption. My brothers not knowing they had chronic hepatitis B virus. Mom, it was hemochromatosis, iron overload.
