Help my brother-in-law recover from Covid
Donation protected
Last week my brother-in-law Uriel who lives in Mexico began to have very serious trouble breathing, which we feared might be Covid. Though he originally tested negative for Covid his symptoms continued to worsen. The hospitals were full and continued to turn him away. As a temporary measure we were able to find him an oxygen tank to help with his breathing and get him another Covid test. This time it came back positive.
Over the weekend my husband Luis went to Mexico to both be with him and the rest of the family and to work to ensure that Uriel received the healthcare necessary to save his life. After a great deal of work Luis was able to successfully get him a bed in a hospital where he is currently receiving oxygen. Were it not for Luis' efforts I am confident that Uriel would have already become another victim of a broken healthcare system that prioritizes profits over lives. Luis' unwavering commitment to doing whatever it takes to save Uriel's life is yet another reminder of why I fell in love with them.
That said, Uriel is not out of the woods. He has experienced severe damage to his lungs and is still not able to breath on his own. The doctors expect that he will have to be hospitalized for at least 30 days if not more. There is also a strong possibility that he will have to be put on a ventilator. The costs are currently approximately $1000 per day. Should he have to be put on a ventilator the cost is estimated to increase to approximately $6000 per day. While he does have insurance, the coverage is minimal and will likely only cover a week of treatment. After that, if we are not able to pay the daily fees upfront he will no longer receive the life-sustaining care that he is currently receiving and would likely die.
Any money that you donate will go directly to paying for the care that he is currently receiving. At this point any amount will make a tremendous difference in keeping the brother-in-law who alive so that he can hopefully one day be with his two beautiful children again.
