Help my dad recover and support Alpine Rescue Team
Donation protected
My dad has one of the biggest hearts I know. For my whole life, he has always been the kind of person to help everyone around him. He has pulled countless people out of the snow or mud when they get stuck, given rides to stranded travelers, and even given the clothes off of his body to homeless people in the winter. He does this all with complete selflessness and never asks for anything in return. But now I ask for your help on his behalf.
My name is Kyla and I am from Black Hawk, Colorado.
As you may have heard, my dad, Bren Wilson was recently stranded during the huge snow storm that hit Colorado on March 14th, 2024. He was trying to plow a path from upper Missouri Gulch Road to highway 119 when his tractor got stuck in the crazy amount of snow in the early evening. He tried to start walking towards 119 for help but quickly realized the dangerous situation he was in. I was thankfully able to reach him for a few minutes before he lost cell service. He was stranded all night in the snow and freezing temperatures without proper winter gear, trying to walk over 3 miles in 4-5 foot tall snow drifts.
Thankfully, I was able to quickly get in contact with Gilpin County dispatch to find my dad. They assembled a huge group of incredible first responders from Gilpin and neighboring counties to work through the night to reach him, and just in time. He is now recovering at the hospital and gaining his strength back.
He would never ask for help himself, so I will do it for him. Being an EMT myself, I know all too well how expensive everything will be from the ambulance to hospital bills and future care. If anyone is able to donate, even a dollar or two, it would mean the world to us so he can focus on recovering.
Thank you everyone for coming together to help a man who has given so much for our community.
**UPDATE** Half of all donations will be donated directly to Alpine Rescue Team for their outstanding dedication and bravery last night. Anything left over after his medical bills are covered will also be given to Alpine Rescue Team.
