Help my family and I evacute from Gaza

Donación protegida
Hi, my name is Zaynab Hani.

I am a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip which is currently under attack. I am reaching out to all of you free people of the world in hopes of helping to save my family and myself from dying here in Gaza.

I am writing this and my heart is in pieces, knowing it is a difficult request I am making, but I am helpless and have no other choice. My mother Wafaa, my father Hani, my two sisters Laila and Sondos (24 and 20 years old), my brother Mostafa (22 years old), and I are all stuck here in this nightmare and are in need of financial assistance to evacute from Gaza immediately.

Since the beginning, I have always kept strong and held on to believing that this horrible situation we're in will end soon and that justice will prevail. However, as we are now reaching the 115th day of this aggression and my family and I are nearing death day by day from the Israeli bombing, freezing from the cold in a nylon tent, and the lack of access to clean water, basic nutrients and healthcare, my will has reached its breaking point. This fundraiser has now become our only hope of survival.

A little background about me and my family:

Gaza has been my home all of my life. I have lived in it for 25 years and managed to survive more than five Isreali aggressions. A year ago, I left Gaza to persue my Masters Degree in Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland through a scholarship. I spent an entire year away from my family unable to see them until I finished my degree in August, 2023. September, 2023 is when I was finally able to reunite with them in beautiful Gaza. But that happeniess did not last, because barely a month later, this aggression started and my family and I have been in continuous displacement ever since, trying to run for our lives.

Since the start of the attack on Gaza proceeding the 7th of October, my family and I has been forcibly displaced more than eight times. The first time was us moving from one dangerous area in the north of Gaza to semi-safer areas. Then, under the threat of bombs, we evacuated the north, leaving our house and lives behind and barely taking anything with us other than one change of clothes, and moved to south Wadi Gaza. From there, we continued to be forcibly displaced from one area to the next in the southern area of the strip, until we eventually ended up in a nylon tent by the Rafah sea. Afterwards, we learned that our house, which was located in Al-Remal street, is gone and is in rubbles, taking with it all of our hopes and dreams of return.

Right now, my family and I are barely surviving. We are facing very dire circumstances and are unable to gain access to basic necessities such as clean water, basic nutrients, and proper Healthcare. My parents are both ill with chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and heart problems, my brother has a motor disability that has only been getting worse under this situation, and there is barely any medications available for them right now. We are also all very drained and exhausted.

Not only that, but diseases are on the wide spread due to the dense population here in Rafah, and for four weeks now, storms and rainy days have been nonstop. The nylon tent we're staying in offers no protection from the freezing wind and rain, it constantly floods, and all of us are sick with severe flu and no access to antibiotics. We also have no access to a bathroom and often have to walk long distances to find one to use. On top of that, we're still under the threat of dying any minute from another bombing. Right now, Gaza offers us no safe haven, only death and displacement!

My family, my parents, brother and two younger sisters, and I are unable to survive here anymore. Saying this breaks my heart into a million pieces, but that is our unfortunate reality. Maybe one day we will be able to make a life for us here, but right now, if we don't evacute the Gaza strip, we simply can't stay alive and healthy.

The only method of evacuating from Gaza right now is through Rafah Egyptian border, which sounds simple enough. However, to cross this border, my family and I are required to pay 7000 to 11000 US dollars per person so that we are allowed to cross. This amount also keeps rising by the minute as the situation here gets more dire. Neither my family nor I have this amount of money. Both my parents haven't been paid since the start of this aggression, and we have been scraping to survive on my savings which have recently ran out.

That is why I am asking for you assistance through this fundraiser. For my family and I, this is the only option for us to be able to evacuate gaza and reach safety. It is our only hope of survival right now.

I wish the situation was any different and I was able to evacuate my family from here without the help and kindness of you wonderful people, but that is my reality. I have always felt that my family is my responsibility as the eldest sibling, so I will always try my best to make sure that my beloved parents and siblings get to live their lives safe and healthy. To be honest, I don't mind not surviving this if only they have a better chance at a safer and healthier life.

With your kind support, this modest and innocent Palestinian family can hopefully find safety and a better life with proper access to basic human needs.

If you consider donating for this cause, thank you so much and I owe you my world. Without your soliderity, we wouldn't have been able to make it in this world.

Sincerely,

Zaynab.
