Help my family during the Ukraine crisis
Donation protected
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caught my parents and my brother in the eye of the storm. They are holed up in their apartment in Kyiv, waiting and praying for the war to be over. With the conflict intensifying daily, it is hard to tell when that might be, but it is abundantly clear that whether it is to survive, rebuild, or escape, they will need our help.
Even if the Russian troops leave today, the damage to my family's livelihoods has already been tremendous. They have lost all their income for the foreseeable future, while the currency's value has plunged and is not likely to recover any time soon.
A prolonged occupation, especially if it involves a blockade of the city, will mean a struggle to acquire basic necessities like food and medication. If at all available, the price for those will likely be exorbitant in such circumstances.
Shelling residential areas has already occurred in other cities, such as Kharkiv and Mariupol. If this horror reaches Kiev and becomes common, staying in place will simply not be an option for them. Traveling 400 miles to the Polish border through a warzone and subsequent relocation to the US to get reunited is a nightmarish and dangerous undertaking. Its success is bound to hinge on my family's ability to pay for the cost of the passage at every turn.
The situation in Ukraine is really dire, and no matter what outcome we contemplate, the challenges for my family are immense. Raising these funds will help them tremendously in every scenario and might even make a difference between life or death. Any amount you can give will help immensely. Please consider contributing today.
