Our Story: A Cry for Help from Gaza

My name is Mohamed Samir Juma. I am a husband, a father, and a survivor of the ongoing war in Gaza. My family and I once had a home, a place of warmth and love. But today, we live in a fragile tent near the sea in Mawasi Khan Younis. We did not choose this life. We were forced to flee when our home was destroyed by relentless bombings. Now, we struggle every day to survive, trapped in a nightmare that never seems to end.

Our Life Before the War

Before the war, we lived a simple but peaceful life in Gaza. I worked hard to provide for my wife and our 3-year-old child. Our home was small, but it was filled with love. My son had a safe space to play, and we had hope for a better future. But everything changed overnight. The war shattered our lives, tearing apart our dreams and leaving us in unimaginable suffering.

Our Situation After the War

Today, we live in a tent made of cloth—thin, fragile, and unable to protect us from the scorching heat or freezing cold. In the summer, we are swarmed by insects, and in the winter, we shiver through long, cold nights. Clean water is a luxury we no longer have, and food is never enough. My son cries from hunger, and I feel powerless knowing I cannot provide for him the way a father should.

The war did not only take away our home; it took away our health and security. I suffer from a chronic illness that requires proper medical care, but there are no hospitals available to treat me. My condition is worsening every day. My son was also injured in his right hand due to the war and urgently needs surgery. But without money, medical care is out of reach. My wife watches us suffer, helpless and broken, as we try to hold on to hope.

We need to leave Gaza and seek refuge in a place where my son can grow up without fear, where I can receive medical treatment, and where we can rebuild our lives. But escaping this war is nearly impossible without help. We have no savings, no income, and no resources to make this journey on our own.
